Celebrate Recovery
Mark and Sue Peterman

Anne Lamott said, “Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.” Isn’t it so, that when you take a reflective glance at the past, many of life’s richest seasons are often the most strenuous, heartbreaking, and painful? It is there that we grow the most – in wisdom, through experience – it is there when we walk closest with the Lord. Our have experienced pain and shock and disappointment and confusion. But, they have found Christ’s hope and are now sharing it with others. So much so that they are able to “Celebrate Recovery!”

Pastor Mark Peterman is currently an Executive Pastor on staff at Hope Chapel West Oahu. Prior to joining the staff at HCWO he worked in the technology industry for more than 25 years. In 2003, Mark and his wife Sue were faced with the brutal reality, their 17 year old daughter was addicted to Crystal Methamphetamine. While this certainly explained the previous two years of chaos in their home, it did nothing to prepare them for the devastation that would take place over the next 2 years. In the midst of this journey God called them to fill a void in the community and together they started a faith-based family support group which very quickly transformed into Celebrate Recovery. Mark and Sue currently lead Oahu’s largest Celebrate Recovery Ministry serving hundreds of people a month with over 14 diverse small groups that focus on a wide range of life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups.

“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24
