Tarn and Marisa Liu are missionaries in Thailand. But, they didn’t start out that way. Tarn grew up in Waianae, became an expert in martial arts through years of training, while winning competitions in the art of grappling, jiu jitsu and the popular sport of MMA (mixed martial arts). Graced with a humble spirit, he has made it his passion to serve Jesus Christ with his whole heart. Marisa graduated from Pearl City High School and received her bachelors degree in business management from the University of Hawaii. She has worked for Catholic Charities in the “Try Wait” abstinence program as well as the SURF program for foster families. They are the proud parents of Rini. Together, they serve as Every Nation missionaries in Bangkok.
Dr. Robert H. Goddard was an American rocket engineer who said, “Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant with the weak and the wrong. Sometime in your life you will have been all of these.” These are reminders we can all use from time to time. And once in a while, the Lord sends us people who help sharpen our focus to be sensitive to the needs of others, not so much by the words they use, but, by their actions. Tarn and Marisa are such people.
