Francis Schaeffer said, “Biblical orthodoxy without compassion is the ugliest thing in the world.” Compassion. What does it mean to you? Some of us have needed a lot of it. And typically, those who have received much are more inclined to show it to others. Jesus said, ” He who has been forgiven much loves much.” Our guests today know a thing or two about compassion. They show it. More importantly, though, they show it consistently.
A few years ago, Colin left his life at Zippy’s as a Unit Manager of 23 years, to move into a number of entrepreneurial endeavors focused on his passions. As Owner of Empowernet, a financial investment consultancy, he developed and conducted training programs for options traders. A greater passion for him, however, has been in serving the homeless in Hawaii, whether through River of Life or Touch a Heart. For many years, he has provided home cooked meals and spent quality time with the homeless at Blaisdell Park on a weekly basis and has used his culinary skills to bless others who have been in need. Robin is the President and Co-owner of Bedrock, a company that she and her brother, David, have owned since 2002. She recently created an “arm” of their business called BECAUSE to move into an area of branding that she has termed, “branding from the heart”. Robin became an instant mom of three children, Reiko, Chris and Dan, when she married her husband, Colin, 20 years ago. She adopted them as her own. She enjoys her time serving in the “for-cause” arena, especially in social justice and sustainability.
