God often uses our most difficult moments to draw us closer to him. Only then do we experience what it means to experience breakthrough. When we try to do things on our own, it can get frustrating and instead of progress, we eventually digress or even regress. But, when we surrender to the Lord, we find our self repositioned to a place where our growth potential is beyond what we could think. Steve Klein was born in a small town in Wisconsin. At the age of 13, he started using drugs on a daily basis. He decided to move to Hawaii at 15, and attended Kaiser High School. A year later he decided to turn his life over to Christ, but then fell away two years later. He also attended UH, and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. Steve later got married, and had two kids, and decided to open a small business, which did not do well.
As a result, he hit a point of desperation, but God sent someone to minister to him, which ultimately led to rededicating his life to Christ. Steve went back to school to get a teaching degree, and felt called to become a pastor. He served as men’s pastor for 7 years, then answered another call to plant Hope Chapel Ko’olau in Aikahi a year ago. Steve currently works for University of Hawai’i’s College of Education in the Special Ed department. He is married to Hiroko. They two children Kai and Moana.
