How does a 16 year old runaway, involved in substance abuse and failed relationships become a leader in bringing financial literacy to the people of Hawaii? It all hinged on her discovery of Jesus Christ and his love for her. A lot has happened in the process. If you are looking for a hopefilled, foundational turning point in your life, perhaps you’ve never been closer to experiencing it than you are today – if you turn to Jesus.
Sheryl Kozuma was born and raised in Hawaii. At the age of 16 , she was living as a runaway. She got involved with substance abuse, but eventually found Jesus and experienced how much he loved her in spite of her shortcomings. Through it all, the Lord blessed her. She eventually graduated from Kapiolani Community College, University of Hawaii at Manoa and the Mayo School of Health-Related Sciences with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. In 2000, her career path changed from that of a rehabilitation manager to starting a business in the distribution of financial services with Primerica, the same company the Lord used to introduce her to her husband. She later went on to have four children, and is now blessed with two grandchildren. She has also seen her dream come true of bringing financial literacy to the people of Hawaii. She is a member of and serves at New Hope Windward. She also serves at Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and the Hawaii Council for Economic Education.
