
If you’ve ever had a teacher or professor who was passionate about their subject – they made it so compelling, you know how you looked forward to hearing them. And if that professor was equally engaged with you as a person it was magnetic. That is our guest. Dr. Bruce Schooling was the International Teacher of the Year in 2003 by national accrediting body, ACBSP, his philosophy of education is anchored in a belief in the ability of people to be creative, enthusiastic, and capable of doing, learning, and exploring great things. Education is about students. They are the product of what an educator does.
Dr. Bruce Schooling is a Professor of Management and former Dean of the Fermanian School of Business at Point Loma Nazarene University. Dr. Schooling holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco, a Master of Nonprofit Administration degree from University of San Francisco, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a specialization in Management from New Mexico State University. He was awarded an associated degree in Biblical Studies from Nazarene Bible College. During eighteen years of pastoral ministry Dr. Schooling served as senior pastor of three Nazarene Churches in Texas, Idaho, and California. He has served on many district boards and worked in various youth camps. Dr. Schooling and his wife Linda are members and active participants in San Diego First Church of the Nazarene where Linda is the Office manager and assistant to the Pastor. Daughters Amy (2000) and Sara (2002) are alums of Point Loma and have provided two sons, Rob and Jeff, for the family. Two grandchildren, Willem – 3 and Charlotte – 1, and a granddog, Luke. Besides family, Dr. Schooling’s interests beyond teaching and the church include athletics, especially basketball, reading, and motorcycling.
