How does God take a standout football player at Kapa’a High School, to a full athletic scholarship at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa—where he graduated with a degree in communications and public relations—before being drafted by the Miami Dolphins? How does that scholar athlete become Mayor of Kauai for 10 years and today stand at the threshold of becoming Lieutenant Governor of the State of Hawaii? This is the story of Bernard Carvalho.
Mayor Carvalho is the eldest child of Bernard Carvalho, Sr. and Priscilla Hanohano. When Mayor Bryan Baptist passed away suddenly in June 2008, Mayor Carvalho won the election serving two years before winning two successive four year terms. He met his wife Regina “Gina” [Godinez Carvalho] in California. They have three children – Bronson, Brennen and Brittney and two grandchildren Welina and Nahoa.
Matthew 19:26 Jesus said, “…with God all things are possible.”
