What motivates a person to give millions of dollars away to organizations that help people improve the quality of their lives? Where does she get the ideas to create enjoyable, healthy, exciting events the mobilize people by the thousands? How does she find the staying power to develop these events into lasting statewide milestone moments that mark the lives of citizens – in such a way that people plan their their lives around it? Our guest today, Carole Kai, is here to share about her leadership in Hawaii and how her relationship with Jesus Christ has made a difference in her life – and through her, your’s and mine.
Carole Kai is known for the annual event, The Carole Kai International Bed Race from 1974-1994 and The Great Aloha Run, started in 1985. The Great Aloha Run has given over $10 million to more than150 worthy organizations in Hawaii. She has volunteered for both events. She was a professional entertainer from the time she graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in music. She performed in Waikiki, in the Reno/Tahoe/Las Vegas circuit and all over Asia. She’s the executive producer and co-host of the hit Karaoke TV show, “Hawaii Stars” and her stage performances with the wildly popular “Local Divas” that included Nohelani Cypriano and Melveen Leed and the late Loyal Garner. Carole’s sustenance is her strong Christian faith.
