How does God lead a shoe salesman in Iowa to seminary in Minnesota where he learns about Urban ministry in Chicago – all the while living six months in Lima, Peru and adopting a son – at the same time preparing to plant a church? This is the story of Larry Willman, Urban church planter and pastor for four decades in the same church. An example of faith, faithfulness, and the unswerving goodness of God.
Larry Willman is the senior pastor of Payne Avenue Evangelical Free Church in St. Paul, Minnesota (also known as Payne Free Church) where he has served for thirty-seven years. He graduated from the University of Northwestern and earned his Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Seminary, both in St. Paul. He is married to Deanne. They have four adult children and six grandchildren.
Scripture: Exodus 34:6 “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness…”
