Joshua Hayashi has always been around the church; it is in many ways the “family business”. His father is ordained with the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), he has a brother who leads a congregation in Seattle, three cousins who are ministers, and six uncles who are either ministers or missionaries. His wife also comes from a family of ministers – she is a fourth generation pastor’s wife.
During high school, a personal crisis brought Joshua Hayashi back to God. He found himself living with his grandparents in Los Angeles. Separated from friends and family, God met him in a personal way, both experientially and relationally. He was alone, forced to face his own failures and deal with his own pain and disappointment. God crossed over his pain and shame. He is a chaplain at Punahou School. He’s married to Charity and they have two child: Everett and Alethea.
John 6:40 “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
