
Legislation and Same Sex Marriage is a matter of great importance today – more than we realize. The impact of which has potential of affecting our lives and those of future generations. But, where are we really at today? How important are decisions being made by our legislators? How have past decisions in another nation shown us a preview of what could happen in our land? In what ways should Christians respond? These questions and more will be discussed today by our guests.
Marcus Oshiro is a 1977 graduate from Leilehua High School, who went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Hawai’i and a Law Degree from Willamette University. In 1994 he was elected to the Hawai’i State House of Representatives where he still currently serves for House District 46, covering the Wahiawa area. In addition, he serves on the Board for Goodwill Industries of Hawai’i, and the American Cancer Society Hawai’i Chapter. Marcus also serves on the Executive Committee for the Council of State Governments. In 2011 he was named one of Hawai’i Business Magazine’s “20 People to Watch Over the Next Two Decades.” Marcus is married to his beautiful bride, Lauzanne L.S. Fung Oshiro, and has been a member of the Democratic Party since 1977.
Jonathan and his wife Tricia have three children and one granddaughter. Their family has lived in a variety of cultures and have ministered in repeated multi-dimensional contexts in Canada, Europe, Central America and Africa. He has previously served as pastor to two different churches in eastern Canada and as a missionary with his family in Albania during a turbulent period. Although born in Honolulu, he was raised in Canada, graduating with awards from West Hill Collegiate Institute in Toronto and the Baptist Leadership Training School in Calgary. He earned his BA in history from the University of Western Ontario in London, and his Masters of Divinity with awards from Acadia Divinity College in Nova Scotia. God has intervened to call his family back to the church of his heritage at Kalihi Union Church. He has completed doctoral studies in cross-cultural research in the area of prayer and evangelism.
