
What does it feel like to invest your life in others as a coach—having both developed champions and winning championships? How does one of Hawaii’s premier golf instructors relate his faith with the sport of golf? But there’s more: His love for God and family touch his very core.
Les Uyehara graduated from Iolani School before earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of Washington where he was a four-year letterman in baseball (short-stop). As head varsity baseball coach at Iolani School he led teams league championships to two state titles. As a golfer, Les won 20 titles including the Manoa Cup and State Medal. He coached golf at the University of Hawaii, was golf instructor at Iolani School and is the owner of Les Uyehara Golf Studios. He is a champion breeder of budgerigars (budgies). He is married to Sherry. They have two children Paul and Alison and two grandchildren Eliot and Kiran.
