She loved working with teenagers and thought she’d do it as a lifelong career but it all came to an end after both parents lost their independence within a year apart of each other due to strokes.
Wendy and her siblings were quickly educated on long-term care issues, assisted-living options, and the high cost of care as they helped manage their parents’ affairs. As a representative for her parents, Wendy made some tough decisions which included selling her folks’ home to pay for the cost of their care. Regrettably, this was before she realized there were other financing options that could have made it possible for her parents to receive care in the home as they had desired.
Since 2007, Wendy has been serving seniors and their families by working as a reverse mortgage specialist. Even though this career move was a tough transition from education, she credits the Lord for providing her with so manyopportunities to grow – both spiritually and professionally. She knows He also answered a prayer from her teaching days when she asked God to “expand her territories” so she could share Christ with more people. It seems that’s how she ended up in business where she is now able to minister to others outside the school community.
