Toon Sie was born into a Buddhist family in Laos. At age 8, she immigrated to Canada as a refugee in 1979. At age 12 she became a Christian at Gospel Light Bible Camp, but hid this from her parents. She got bitten by the acting bug and was never cured. She dreamed of becoming an actress. At age 19, after just a year at a Bible college in Steinbach, Manitoba she moved to Ontario where she attended Academy of Performing Arts in Cambridge alongside “Youth With A Mission”. Thinking her dreams were well on its way, Toon joined Theatre & Company as an Apprentice and later moved to California when she met her husband Bill. But God had other plans.
After years of searching to fulfill her dreams, Toon Sie knows there’s a long road between reality and dreams as she has traveled a long way to discover that what you want and what God wants sometimes requires a “desert-like experience” or “fieldwork” for preparation of life and faith. She is learning to find contentment in the ordinary things of life, work, ministry and service to others and to “bloom where you’re planted.” Currently, Toon is happy serving at her church at Community Christian Alliance Church with Bill and her two girls, Melody and Aria. She is also thrilled to be a member of Eastern Sky Theatre Company where they travel around Los Angeles County and all of Southern California to impact audiences for Christ with exciting, entertaining and powerful evangelistic plays.
1 Timothy 6:6-7 “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.”
