Originally from Seattle, Washington, Major John Chamness is the son and grandson of Presbyterian pastors. While in property management he was drawn to The Salvation Army’s practical ministry. A ministry that led to developing the model of Salvation Army Kroc Centers for the nation in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with John and his wife Major Lani Chamness leading the capital campaign and development – a 70 million dollar recreational, educational, and arts facility that grew to 22,000 members in the first year.

Major John Chamness and his wife Major Lani Chamness are the Divisional Leaders for the The Salvation Army – Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division, covering Hawaii, Guam, Saipan, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. They have three children: Lindsey, Mitchell and Camille.

Matthew 6:26 Jesus says “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
