John Roberts is Community Life Pastor at Bluewater Mission, where he has been serving for the past ten years. In 2008, John helped to launch the Kalihi House, a ministry of likeminded people who provide a transformational home for the homeless, individuals recovering from domestic abuse, and other at-risk individuals. Following the Lord’s leading, John purchased a house in June 2013 so that the ministry could expand – the original Kalihi House (K1) would continue to serve others, and the new house K2 (Kalihi House #2) was born. Since its start eight months ago, K2 has helped to shelter dozens of people, while surrounding them with a supportive community focused on life change.
John is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. When not doing ministry, John is a full time teacher, and has been teaching in Hawaii for the past thirteen years. This year is his 11th year teaching music at Punahou School, where he is a Musical Theatre and Choir instructor. In his free time, John is an avid volleyball player and fan. He attends Bluewater Mission – an interesting, justice minded church.
