
What does a modern-day display of courage look like on the international stage? On February 24, 2022 Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky, a lawyer, comedian and actor who became the nations president has shown the courage of a lion that galvanized the nation. At the start of the war the United States offered to evacuate him. His reply, “The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.” and determined to remain with his people in Kyiv. He’s already survived three assassination attempts. He knows his life and the well-being of his family is in jeopardy. But he remains a voice of hope, determination, and above all sacrifice.
Ukrainians are united to fight for their democracy. Men and women of all ages have volunteered to fight Russian invaders while an international legion of support is in action. This is a part-one of a series on the War in Ukraine and today we will talk about courageous leadership. What does courageous leadership mean to the world? How does courageous leadership influence citizens and why is courageous leadership needed in our families and churches today? How did Jesus exemplify courageous leadership and what other biblical examples do we have?
