What are the children going through during the War in Ukraine? As of today, 4.3 million children have been displaced according to UNICEF. Mothers and babies have been separated from their husbands, fathers, and brothers who remain in Ukraine to fight the Russians. Many children have been left by parents who have been killed. Or, sent away without their families. Is there hope for these children? How does childhood trauma impact young people into adulthood? What can be done about it?

Psychologist Dr. Hale Akamine joins me today. He is the Executive Director of Family Ministries Center Hawaii. Dr. Akamine earned his doctor philosophy in psychology from the University of Hawaii and has served patients for more than thirty years. He’s been a radio and TV host, popular speaker, professor, and serves in ongoing missions to Fiji. He is married to Gayle. They have one daughter: Hope.

Scripture: Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
