How does God lead someone who is at the pinnacle of her career to a path where hundreds of thousands of lives are impacted every single day – in some of the most necessary and practical ways? Kim Gennaula was a weeknight News Anchor for KGMB TV for 15 years. During her time as News Anchor, she won Emmy’s for “Cultural Affairs Reporting” as well as “Best Newscast”. Kim has also won several Society of Professional Journalists Awards and awards for perpetuation of Hawaiian culture. It was just the beginning.

Kim Gennaula is the President and CEO of Aloha United Way. Kim joined Aloha United Way in 2011. In the last year, through workplace campaigns, grants, its Combined Federal Campaign and special projects, Aloha United Way was able to raise nearly $15 million to serve the needs of its community. The impact of the AUW work is powerful and widespread with Aloha United Way funded programs touching 800,000 local lives. Kim is also a part of the United Way Worldwide National Professional Council. Kim’s love for United Way began more than 20 years ago when she served for 5 years as the Corporate Campaign Coordinator for the AUW Campaign at a large retail store chain. Previously, Kim was a Philanthropy Director for the Kapiolani Health Foundation. Kim assisted in the cultivating, soliciting and stewarding of major gift donors for the operations of Kapiolani Medical Center – Hawaii’s premiere hospital for women and children. Kim is married to Guy Hagi. They have one son and daughter, Luke and Alia. Together they attend New Hope Christian Fellowship.

Proverbs 4:6-7 “Never walk away from Wisdom – she guards your life; love her – she keeps her eye on you. Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom!”
