What would you do if your children told you they decided to move to a foreign country to save children who are victims of human trafficking? Ron and Cissy Boyer’s children Drake (then 12) and his sister Elli (10) conveyed that message while on a reconnaissance mission for their church. Ron and Cissy heard God’s calling to move to Southeast Asia becoming full-time missionaries with ZOE International.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Ron Boyer graduated from the University of Hawaii Phi Beta Kappa before working for 23 years in Hawaii government. He capped his public service career as a member of the Governor of Hawaii’s cabinet serving as Director of the State Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. At ZOE, Ron works on policy and grant writing, marketing, and strategy. He also tutors English for staff and children. Cissy graduated from Penn State University. She managed her family’s restaurant and catering business for 16 years, was a successful Realtor® and full-time homeschool teacher. At ZOE, she is directs the English as a Second Language Program, instructs ZOE Ministry School’s business classes, operates ZOE’s on-campus store and manages ZOE’s kitchen serving 450 meals a day.
